The very mention of the festival seem to awakene the child within her, making her relive her childohood memories of the Pujo. While talking about the larger than life festival, Debina could't stop beaming with joy!
"Each and every year of mine has been special during Durga Pooja. It is said that Bengalis have another sense of smell apart from food. They can smell the Pujo! Just before the fesival, the entire city starts smelling Pujo Pujo. It is the most beautiful thing in the city. I mean the five days, we don't even come to know how it flies. We are either fasting or hogging onto the best delicacies. Apart from the pandals and all, the main attraction are also the side stalls of food that are put up. I bet the food prepared out there, cannot just be compared to the food eaten anywhere else. The festival is about buying new clothes, food and pandal hopping. It is just about everything."
So does Gurmeet also enjoy the festival?! "Oh my god! He keeps insisting to go to Calcutta during Durga Pooja... I had taken him once and he has gotten mesmerisied. But nowadays it is very difficult to roam around freely during the peak hours at the pandals because it then it becomes more of clicking pictures with fans who shower so much of love. But, even if we sit in our verandas at our place in Calcutta, we simply enjoy he crowd and celebrations going on in pandals"
So what are her plans for Durga Puja this year?!
"My relatives from Kolkata have come down to my place. It's going to be a mini Calcutta at my place. I will be shooting mainly, but in the evenings, I will be with my family, roaming around in the pandals. I am also going to the Navratri bashes as a guest. Every year, my parents insist on going back to Kolkata for Durga Pooja but I don't let them orelse it becomes really boring for me," she signs off.
Happy Durga Puja and Navratri!!
