Mahesh Bhatt's Naamkarann  that kick-started yesterday on Star Plus yet again proves that whether a movie or an episodic show on TV, this director can nail at it all.

The story revolves around the life of little Avni trying to figure out her identity in this hoity-toity world. The little Arsheen Namdar is fabulous as a girl in search of answers to the questions raised by the society about her family's identity. Barkha Bisht suits her role to T as the helpless wife Asha to her husband yet strong mother to Avni. She beautifully portrays the emotions of a woman who understands her husband's plight yet tries her best to keep her family united and strong.

Talking about Viraf Patel as Ashish Mehta, we bet, the camera loves him! He has looked handsome in every shot and suits his character as a filmmaker by profession. The actor has managed to protay the helpnessness of a man stuck between the love for his mothr who is against his beautiful family; Asha and Avni. Reema Lagoo who makes her comeback o the television wolrd fits in her role of a possesive and loving Gujrati mother to Viraf.

The lullaby marks the end of the first episode and we have Avni, who has beautifully emoted the emotions - of trying to act mature and strong in front of her mother - to give her morale support while hiding her own pain. It also shows the strong bond between the mother and daughter.  Not to forget- the camera angles, the background score and everything else just adds into making the first episode as a perfect start.

Naamkarann certainly looks promising and reminds us of Bhatt's cinematic brilliant film, Zakhm. Now this is one show that fans can definitely look out for!
