Shabana Azmi to play The Godmother on the small screen!
Shabana Azmi is all set to star in another show, after her kickass appearance in Anil Kapoor's 24 Season 1 and 2. She will don the role of a mafia queen in Zee TV's Ek Maa Jo Lakhon Ke Liye Bani Amma.
As per a popular daily, the Masoom actor will be replacing Raina Joshi in the show. She played the role of young Amma in the serial and felt that she didn't look old enough for the part after the leap.
This is the second time Shabana will be playing the role of a bootlegger. She was seen in a similar role in the film The Godmother for which she won a National Award. Talking about the similarities between both the roles, the Arth actor said, "The only similarities are that they are both mafia dons and they get into this role after the death of their husbands. While Godmother was more politically inclined and motivated, 'Amma' is more like a Robin Hood."
