I feel the same way for my BCL team as I feel for my daughter- Kamya Punjabi
With the BCL(Box Cricket League) fever spreading in the Telly Ville, all the teams seem to have geared up to compete with each other! While in an exclusive tete-a-tete with us, actress Kamya Punjabi, the proud owner of Jaipur Raj Joshiley elaborates on her team being different from the rest, on the best players of JRJ and also why she feels the same for her team as she feels for her daughter!
What is the USP of your team?
We are all Paagal Punjabi's. We laugh out loud together. We are there with each other and have no ego clashes. We are like one big family. I have observed that the team members are really cooperative.
Who are the best players in your team?
Well, Balraj is one of the best bowlers in BCL. Even Pratap, Paras and Ravish are very good. Gagan Mallik is superb. Puneet is very good. Can't name just one player. They all play as if they are professional players. Everybody are extremely passionate. And Yes, Gagan, Paras, Pratap and Ravish were a surprise package for me!
Name one player from your team who needs a constant push?
(Laughs) Nalini Negi! She is like a baby! After every 10 minutes of practice, she will come up and make cute excuses! So I kind of have to keep pushing her to play and practise. So if I am not able to make it for a practise session, I make sure that no matter what Nalini practises right and does not leave the session before time! (Laughs)
How do you balance your other work commitments as well as BCL?
Well, if you are passionate about something, then things gradually happen right! It does not become difficult to manage anything then. These people(JRJ players) also understand my passion for cricket. Apart from playing for themselves, they play for me as well. They consider me as their 'Ma'.
So whose more difficult to handle, your BCL kids or your daughter?
(laughs) I love my team the most! I love my daughter the most. Yeh dono mujhe pareshaan karte hai aur pyaar bhi karte hai. As I said earlier, my team plays for me. Whenever we are probaby going to lose or have made a low score, I am the most disheartened one. And when we play good, I am the most lively and cheery person then. I will root for them non-stop and that what makes them happy instantly. They want to see a smile on my face. My daughter is the same. I feel the same way for my team as I feel for my daughter.
What made you come up with this name for your team?
I wanted a name jismein passion, josh, Junoon pata chale. Jaipur ke saath achanak se Joshiley aagaya; and we immediately stuck to this name.
Tell us something about your upcoming projects?
Well, right now I am only concentrating on BCL. I have been working from her past two years and hence could not give ample of time to my team. So this time, I have decided to completely focus on my team. After BCL, I would definitely want to get back to wearing my sarees and make-up and face the camera. Acting is my passion and I would get back to it soon as soon as BCL gets over.
