The FIR was first lodged at Santa Cruz police station on February 29, where the complainant stays and was later transferred to Waliv police station as the crime took place in their jurisdiction. Senior police officer Narayana Patil of Waliv police station while confirming the arrest said, “We arrested Khan from Kurla on Tuesday and he was produced in court on Wednesday. He has been remanded to police custody till March 14.” The complainant was a resident of Santa Cruz and a mother of two, while her husband works in Saudi Arabia. Following the incident, she approached the police. Khan has been booked under Section 375 and 376 of IPC for rape.
