EXCLUSIVE: "I'm looking for love again, and let's hope this time it stays" - Meiyang Chang on finding love

Mister Chang, a qualified dentist, swoon our hearts soon after his Indian Idol appearance. Soon after he became our host and dost in Indian Idol, Indian Premiere League, IIFA awards. After impressing us with his singing and anchoring talent, he won the celebrity dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 4! And if that wasn’t enough, he was bit by the acting bugs and made his acting debut with ‘Badmaash Company’. Currently, he has been roped in to host ‘Pyar Tune Kya Kiya’ season 2 after a successful season 1. In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla.com, Meiyang Chang speaks about his upcoming show, willingness to find love and his 3am buddies. Read on:

You were part of the first season along with Surbhi Jyoti and Anita Hassanandani, this season will it be only you?

Surbhi and I are the in-house hosts, if you'd like to call us that. So we continue as hosts on the second season as well, even though we've never met in real life.

What made you say yes to the of 'Pyar Tune Kya Kiya 2'?

Nothing succeeds like success, and PTKK has seen a great first season. As a host, I like the sweet, easy-going and emotional vibe of the show and want to continue the experience into hopefully an even more successful second season.

In the first season, which story or episode shocked you the most?

I personally liked the story which depicted a story about teenage pregnancy and how maturely the partners handled themselves, in spite of absolutely no support from their families.

How would you define love and what would you suggest to avoid love crime from destroying one’s life?

Love is a very, very complex emotion and yet, the purest and simplest of them all. There is no mantra or one way to fall in and out of love, so you learn while you love. You use your instinct and good sense. Often, you just let go. Love can also be an extreme emotion, forcing people to perpetrate evil in its name. It's all good to be impulsive and do what your heart tells you to do, but we have brains for a reason. Think, reason, and calculate before you do something stupid.

On the personal front, have you found love?

All of us find and lose love. Let's just say I'm looking for love again, and let's hope this time it stays.

What are the qualities you would look for in your partner?

The most important qualities have to be that we should be able to hold a conversation, even if it is a silent one, and that she should be witty and caring. These, in fact, are deal breakers for me.

When do we get to see you sing again and any films you have signed up?

I have an interesting role in a period film slated for release in February 2015 and I released two singles last year. Now that the event season has started, I will be traveling extensively and manage my TV shoots as well.

Having a cute boy image, how do you handle female adulation?

I'm inexplicably as tongue tied as they are when we meet. However, I try to put them at ease. I'd request them to strike up a fun, chilled out conversation when possible.

How is Chang on a normal shoot-free day?

As if to compensate for all the early morning physical training classes in boarding school, I wake up very late on a non-working day, letting my brunch and riyaaz overlap. I like to read a lot and a lot of creativity in terms of writing & sketching is accomplished on days like these. I love to catch up on friends, movies, plays and TV series. However, I don't party much in the city. I'd rather spend my free time at home (mine or a friend's) than be stuck in traffic.

I can live without things, I can't live without people, and inspiration.

Your wardrobe is incomplete without:

Waistcoats, shades, Jackets, graphic tees.

Your 3 am buddies:

Quite a few since they are such insomniacs. Plus, we are always there for each other.

Favourite travel destination:

Pretty much anywhere in Europe & many destinations in India. There's so much culture and character in them.

Favourite dish:

I'm a foodie. I don't discriminate between good food. I devour them all!
