Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is one of the longest running shows on Indian Television, and over the past 10 years, it has managed to show content that is as progressive as it comes across as dramatic. We have seen the makers incorporate important subjects into its tracks and use it in regular conversation, or more often than not, use it as a tool to spread awareness about an ongoing issue. The show stars Shivangi Joshi and Mohsin Khan in the lead roles, probably which is why it becomes easier to make the show relatable to even the youth.

As per the ongoing track in the show, the makers have brought light upon sexual harassment and what happens when it comes from someone who is a part of the family. In the form of Dadi, the makers have portrayed that group of people who try to put things under the bed in the name of saving their reputation while in the form of Naira (Shivangi), they have portrayed that rebel who wants to out the harasser. Over a turn of events, we see how things escalate, only to lead to a point where Naira reaches her saturation.

While the show deals with sexual harassment on one hand, on the other, it sees Gayu, who is pregnant before marriage being portrayed as the girl, who will find it difficult to get herself a suitable groom. However, in the wake of recent events on the show, Samarth goes on to propose her for marriage. Through this, there is a message that is given out loud and clear, such things can't be/are not barriers to anyone leading their life, and leading it happily.

The society has created all these stereotypes and imager of so many things that we don't even recognize often, how they aren't things which are normal. Even in the past, the show has spoken about how even today, in the 21st century, there are modern families that want their daughters-in-law to have a boy, and always have a certain kind of prejudice against females. Another issue that the makers also dealt with is how if the girl's family sticks by her side, there is nothing that can go wrong with her, and that it is not the duty of the girl's father to always rub his nose at the behest of the boy, or his family.

Just like how we have seen Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai shine on at so many instances, the past week for the show was nothing less, and it is such content on Indian Television that makes it worth everyone's while.
