Mahabharat : Bheeshma lies on the bed of arrows; Vidhur resigns
In Star Plus' 'Mahabharat', Bheeshma Pitamah stops Duryodhana from breaking the rules of the war by attacking Arjuna post sunset. Arjuna fires a few arrows so that Bheeshma can rest his head while Duryodhana asks for Bheeshma's forgiveness and blessings to win the war. Bheeshma grants him forgiveness but states that his blessings for winning the war would lie with Yudhistra. However, he states, that he blesses Duryodhana that when he does finally die, he will understand the true meaning of dharma and go to heaven and advises him to be wise or else he will go to hell. Duryodhana on the other hand accuses Bheeshma of being partial even on his deathbed and curses him to hell much to Bheema's displeasure.
Krishna states that Bheeshma shall attain heaven because he has attained the wisdom of dharma. Sahdev asks Bheeshma to embrace death but Bheeshma declines as he considers the bed of arrows to be his punishment for all the wrong deeds and that he will embrace death only when the Pandavas win the war and earn their rights. He then asks everyone to leave and the Pandavas take his blessings.
Vidhur resigns from his position of 'Mahamantri' and tells Dhritrashtra that his 100 sons are to blame for the war and not the Pandavas as it was not Duryodhana's right to be the ruler of Hastinapuri which angers Dhritrashtra. Vidhur curses Dhrithrashtra that he will cry tears of blood on the death of his 100 children and the Pandavas will win the battle of Kurukshetra.
In the upcoming episode, Duryodhana will declare a new 'senapati'. Who will it be?
