A year without controversies turns out to be a dull year. Like Bollywood, even in Indian television celebrities have their share of controversies which shocked their fans till the time the news vanished. In the first half of 2017, we saw several shocking controversies out of which a few left a lasting impact.

Let's take a look at a few controversies which happened in the first half of 2017.

Kapil Sharma - Sunil Grover feud

This controversy shocked the whole nation and is continuing to do so. In the month of March, a fight broke out between Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover on a flight as they were on their way back to India from Australia. During the fight, an inebriated Kapil yelled and screamed abuses at Sunil by saying, "Tu mera naukar hai, tere show flop tha." Reports have it, he went on to slap him too. This incident led to Sunil exiting from The Kapil Sharma Show along with Ali Asgar and Chandan Prabhakar. Sunil took to his Twitter page and lashed out at Kapil for his behaviour. He said, "Just one advice, start respecting human beings apart from animals. Not everyone is as successful as you are. All are not talented as you are, but if all are talented then who will watch you. Have some gratitude towards their existence. Also if someone is correcting you, dont abuse that person. Refrain from using foul language in front of women who have nothing to do with your stardom, they are just by chance travelling with you. Thanks for making me realise that it was your show and you have the power to throw anybody out anytime. You are the wittiest in your field, but don't act like a 'God'. Take Good Care." Recently, when a fan asked Kapil about getting Sunil on the show, he said, "Jab b unka dil kare.. I told him many times .."

Recently, Chandan joined back TKSS and when Pinkvilla quizzed him about the same, he stated, "See, whatever happened back then is a thing of the past, so let's leave that aside. Talking about why I joined back, every action has a reaction. It has a proper time and back then, I gave a reaction. Now, we can't really stretch it. Even real brothers fight, it doesn't mean that we will stay like this forever."

Shilpa Shinde files FIR against producer Sanjay Kohli for alleged sexual harassment charges

Shilpa Shinde, who became a household name with her role in Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain held a press conference where she made shocking revelations about being sexually harassed by the producer of the show Sanjay Kohli. She said, "Sanjay ji told me that for the promotion of the show, we will have to go out and that we will have a nice time. Also, in the make-up room, he came close to me and photo lete huye and apna haath rakha mujhe. I could feel that touch was not right."

Pratyusha Banerjee's first year death anniversary

On April 1, 2017, it was Pratyusha Banerjee's first death anniversary. Kamya Punjabi held a prayer meet in the city for her best friend. She even showcased the last short film of which Pratyusha was a part and it was gut-wrenching. Pratyusha's boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh lashed out at Kamya for releasing the short film. He said, "I have lost my girlfriend last year on 1st April 2016. On 27/3/2017 I was shocked to read that Kamya Punjabi has given an interview and declared that she is releasing one short film based on the life of my girlfriend Pratyusha Banerjee and she has portrayed my character in an abusive manner. Further, she has used my girlfriend Pratyusha's old video as a new one." That led to a spat between Kamya and Pratyusha's boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh, who accused Kamya of doing it all for fame.

Bigg Boss 10's Om Swami's stints

Bigg Boss 10 contestant Om Swami has been in headlines during the show and even post his exit. All thanks to his acts in the house or now outside the Bigg Boss house, he has been in the news throughout. He created a ruckus when he was part of the show and was known to disrespect women in the house.  A picture of Baba going through a makeover was doing the rounds. There were even rumours of Om Swami dating Priyanka Jagga. In an interview with us, Priyanka said, "Oh God! I don't know what do I do with such news that keeps coming in. Why will I want to dance with an elderly man? I might as well dance with Hrithik Roshan. And Plus I had already decided to not be a part of Television anymore and had stated the same earlier too. My focus is Bollywood. I have children and a husband and am happy with my family. Why will I even want to be to do all this? I am not interested in dancing in any competition. It's disgusting how people come up with such fake news." 

Bhavya Gandhi aka Tapu quits Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma

It came as a shock to many when Bhavya Gandhi who played Tapu in Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma had quit the show. Instead, Bhavya will now be working in a Gujarati movie, instead. Asit Modi who is the creator of the show said, "Sometimes people start thinking they're bigger than the show. He went ahead and did a Gujarati film without informing us."

It was rumoured that Sanaya Irani and Mohit Sehgal were probably getting safe zoned by the home channel of the show. It was further rumoured of how the couple was getting preferred over other couples and were given a lot of takes to perform their final act even after rehearsals. Apparently, they are getting leeway and were supported by the channel. Monaya then took to their Instagram to clarify all the rumours. In a video posted by them, she stated that it is a reality show and no one can cheat or fool anyone. They have been putting in umpteen efforts to perform their best and that such rumours affect them. Mohit too looked visibly upset. Going ahead, she has also requested fans not to stoop down to anybody's level and rather than fighting on social media, it's better to vote for whomsoever, they feel like.

Rakhi Sawant Valmiki controversy

Rakhi is known as a controversial queen and is always embroiled in controversies. A while back, an arrest warrant was issued against her by a local court in Ludhiana over her alleged hurtful remarks against the sage Valmiki last year. However, later, the Punjab police refuted rumours of her arrest and made it clear that nothing of that sort has been done as yet. In recent developments, according to a leading daily, Rakhi has withdrawn her plea for anticipatory bail in accordance with the case. Dinesh Kumar, Additional sessions judge stated that Rakhi had been booked under Section 298 of the IPC, which was a bailable offence. Then the lawyer withdrew the plea deal. The case is pending before the court of judicial magistrate Vishav Gupta for May 11. Meanwhile, Rakhi had kept a press conference a while back talking about the incident. She said, "I think people are forcefully dragging me under bad light to ruin my career. I did not say anything wrong to hurt anyone's sentiment. Even then, I made an apology video and uploaded it online." She added, "I am as fearless as the Rani of Jhansi and I will fight against all those people who are dragging me in controversy." "Last year, I did a press conference on Mika's behalf to support him, and today because of that, when I am in trouble, he (Mika Singh) did not even bother to respond on the matter, though I am getting messages from Bollywood stars. But I am sad that Mika did not say a single word for me," she concluded.

Shivani Tomar receiving flak for Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon 3

Barun Sobti will be starring opposite Shivani Tomar in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon 3. Fans have been showing their displeasure of Shivani replacing Sanaya Irani and Tomar has been receiving a lot of flak for it. Talking about the same, Shivani told a leading television portal. "I feel bad on receiving such a response but I am focusing on presenting the best. I don't want to have a negative start. I am hopeful that people's perception will change once the show goes on air as we are giving our best."
