Reema Lagoo passes away: 5 TV shows which prove that she was an acting powerhouse
Reema Lagoo passed away today morning in Mumbai after suffering from a cardiac arrest.
Veteran actress Reema Lagoo passed away today after suffering a cardiac arrest. This news came as a shock leaving everyone reeling in immense grief.
Lagoo was an exemplary actress whose career spanned across different genres including theatre, television and cinema. However, Reema ji was best known for her realistic portrayal of a mother on screen for decades now. No other actor could bring to celluloid the emotions of unconditional love, sacrifice and struggle, the way she did.
Her characters have always left us either in tears or laughter. Reema ji was also part of a number of TV shows. As we remember the actress, here are the 5 TV shows where she entertained us with her noteworthy performances:
1. Tu Tu Main Main: Reema Lagoo was part of the cult comedy show Tu Tu Main Main along with Supriya Pilgaonkar which was directed by Sachin Pilgaonkar. The show captured the day-to-day banter between a mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law which left us all laughing hysterically. The show was a huge hit and Reemaji was a treat to watch.
2. Shrimaan Shrimati: Earlier in 1990's it was the sitcom Shriman Shrimati which ruled viewers' hearts. With Reema Lagoo, Archana Puran Singh, Rakesh Bedi and Jatin Kankania in lead roles, the show was based around two neighbours flirting with each other's wives but ended up making a complete fool of themselves. Reemaji, with her amazing comic timing, tickled our funny bones like no one else.
3. Kadvee Khatti Meethi: After the huge success of Tu Tu Main Main, Reema Lagoo along with Supriya Pilgaonkar came back to our TV screens with this another comedy show which was an extension of TTMM. Watching Reemaji in a comedic role was no less than a roller coaster ride for the viewers.
4. Do Hanson Ka Jodaa: The veteran actress played the role of a 'devi' in the house where everyone worshipped. Her attitude towards life despite suffering from a disease was applaudable. While her character is shown dead later in the show, her stint on the show was praise-worthy.
5. Naamkarann: The late actress was last seen in Mahesh Bhatt's TV show Naamkarann. She played the role of an obsessive mother in the show with her character having many grey shades. Her role as Dayawanti Mehta won her many praises. In fact, the actress was shooting for it last evening as well before she complained of a chest pain.
Apart from this, she also did a cameo in the popular comedy show Hum Paanch among others.
