TV actors talk about Ganpati and the wishes they want Bappa to fulfill!
Sanjay Gagnani
Ganpati festival has a lot of significance in my life. I feel a special connect a special bond with the most loved god Ganpati since I was born on the day of Ganpati Visarjan.
Whenever I feel the need for some positive energy, I visit the Siddhivinayak temple or the nearest Ganpati temple in Versova. Ganpati is a sheer inspiration for me when it comes to his selfless love and care towards his parents Lord Shiva & Godess Parvati.
The two wishes I want Ganpati to fulfill is one Ganpati is known for his love & Care towards his parents and I want him to help and show mercy on all those old parents who are homeless and have faced harsh cruelty by their greedy, selfish and cruel children and next I want Ganpati to prevail peace in the world. Especially in the war zone areas like Syria, Iraq where innocent lives and humanity are at stake at this moment.
Since I lived in a joint family we celebrated every festival with grandeur. The best Ganpati festival memory was back in my hometown where we celebrated the Ganpati festival by feeding, helping the poor and by visiting different Ganpati Mandal's and watching the different groups dance on the last day while they immerse the Ganpati idols in the sea.

Ganapati Festival is full of positivity and fun. Every year during Ganpati, I visit all my friends those who get Ganpati at their house. It's a good time for get together and starting life fresh with lot of positive energy.
Eating sweets and different kind of food is an add on.
I wish Ganpati takes me high in my career and secondly gives me wisdom.
I still remember my first Ganpati festival 7 years ago in Mumbai when I was new to the city. It was altogether a new and different experience for me. I can never forget that year Ganpati as I personally took the initiative with a friend and helped him to organise the arrival of Ganpati at his house. I got this opportunity to experience this festival from very near just because of my friend. I shall always be thankful to him for introducing me to this colourful culture through Ganpati.

Every person who comes to Mumbai comes with dreams. Mine was to become an actor which, with Bappa's blessings It came true. I want Bappa to bless me with a home here because the way this city has accepted me, I can’t see myself go anywhere else.
And that one opportunity to do one kickass character that stays with audiences for years ahead. The show that gives me the chance to challenge my comfort zone and surprise myself and my viewers will be great.
Most memorable time was last year. It was my first time at lal baug. I had been wanting to go there since 10 years but was just not happening but it happened last year. It was totally a different experience. The vibe and the energy felt very positive.

I am an atheist. But I like how people enjoy this festival. I salute to their belief. I love their ‘Nashik dhol’ rhythm on which devotees dance. As I have a sweet tooth so I love to eat Modaks too. I feel this festival is an excuse also so that people get to meet and greet. I like the dedication and devotion of this festival. I am against to it as it multiplies water pollution and noise pollution too.
Can't forget that biggest ganpati crosses Kokila Ben near ‘Leelawati’ and all big hospital in town which causes a lot of noise and air pollution. I feel people should keep their devotion in heart, Why to blow trumpet?

I always believe that this festival brings a new beginning in my life every year. And it’s my favourite time of the year.
I only have one wish and that is to give my son nothing but the best all his life and that he has a healthy and long happy life.
Memorable part was before I got married. Every year in my society I used to be a part of the building functions. I remember choreographing dances for kids and it brings a smile on my face every time I remember it.
Those were the best years of my life and I miss those carefree fun days.

Festival of Ganpati brings in joy, happiness, excitement and preparation. We decorate the place, do ‘Puja’. Friends visit for darshan, blessings we visit at their places the best is visarjan the way everyone dances all the way to say goodbye to him and say "come back soon next year" (in Marathi) playing with Gulaal. I want Ganpati to bring in peace and prosperity with his visit. And request to all Please take care of the environment, our fishes and get Eco friendly Ganesha. Ganpati Bappa Moriya!
Akhlaque Khan
Ganpati festival means Mumbai to me. I always used to see it on TV when I didn't stay here.
It used to look so fascinating. When I started staying here I realised what lovely spirit it gets into the people here. It's a week of fun and fair and I enjoy this festival too.

Ganpati ji has always been lucky for me and I believe in him a lot. I have full faith in him and he makes me strong enough to tackle tough situations in my life.
I think wishes should not be told so I won’t reveal it but I wish happiness and joy for my family and everything that happens in future should only be for the good.
I remember going those visits to my friends place for ganpati. It is always fun and a good feeling of visiting to different places to see ganpati and during visarjan too. Any where you go to visit ganpati that feeling and atmosphere is divine and beautiful.
Rishma Rochlani
For me ganpati is like mini Diwali. Visiting everyone's house, every house being decorated so well was best part. All the statues are decorated and so much food and Modak. The first thing that comes to my mind with ganpati is modak.
Two wishes I would wish will be to always live a happy life and second bless my family infinitely.
I have this memory, as a child I used to try posing like the ganpati idol we used to get home. The exact same pose and everyone around used to laugh at me.
Himanshu Soni
Ganpati festival has always been the best festival for many of us and me too have celebrated it by visiting friends place who kept ganpati at their home by helping them in decoration and setup and even aartis. Those meets and the week of mithai’s are good times. Visarjan is also where I enjoy. The craze and excitement people have for this festival would never be seen for any other festival. The belief people have in ganpati is true and pure. He listens and fulfils everyone’s wishes and this year I too wish for a good health and wealth for my family and everyone to be happy.
As kids we use to enjoy a lot during Visarjan. We even used to cry sometime because these days create a very strong bond between ganpati and us that we don’t wish to leave him or as in immerse him. But those were memories of joy and happiness with pure feelings.

This festival is important to me as I am a follower of Ganesha. I believe in Ganesha as he is the god of wisdom and power. Worshipping him and during the aartis we get a strong and positive vibrations which are felt by many of them. It’s a festival of joy and happiness where we get to visit, greet and meet our closed ones, friends etc which is the best part after having modaks (laughs). Though I don't get the deity at my house to worship but I do visit at my friends place to worship. I don’t have as such many wishes as he has always been very kind to me but if to say then I will always wish for the well being of me and my family. Visiting friends pace for seeking blessings from ganeshji or going to visit mandaps and other places where ganeshji has been kept during childhood with my family are some memorable moments for me.
Natasha Singh
It’s like if you have a best friend who is very powerful and busy but always has time for you and always helps and if you got a chance to get that best friend home for a little while and get to spend personal time with him confide in him and feed him, entertain him and try and make him happy because he is done so much for you. That’s exactly what ganesh chaturti means to me.
They say you shouldn’t say your wishes till they come true so I want them to be true (laughs).
Memories of when I was really small they used to have this huge mandal at peddar road near my nani,s house and they would play movies on a big screen where we used to take blankets and cushions and some snacks and go down and watch movies at the ganpati mandal. It used to be more like a night picnic for all the kids with loads of fun.

It inculcates a sense of positivity in you, it enlightens the whole atmosphere. Everyone around are so energetic and happy to be around God. The fact remains that mumbaikars celebrates it in a very grandeur way.
I wish my family's wellness and happiness as they are my first love and life even before God.
I don't need a second wish as I am happy for what I am and where I am today. And I believe people get only what they deserve.
So asking for a wish to be rich is pure stupidity as you really need to put in your sweat and blood into getting what you want. God is there only to help you take wise decision.
I have been living in Mumbai for over two and a half years now and to be honest, Delhites do not celebrate ganpati festival as the mumbaikars do. During ganpati, in Mumbai my friends are my guide to show me how it is celebrated. We go to almost every friends who are celebrating ganpati in their house. It’s fascinating to see how everyone decorates their ganesh ji and the way they decorate the house.
And I am surprised to see that this festival sometimes goes around a week or even more depending upon the individual. I am yet to witness the the ganpati visarjan on the beach. I really hope one day I shall see it.

Every year I follow Ganpati festival. Dancing in my building and streets while Visarjan is very enlightening and fascinating. This occasion is where everyone comes to meet you at your place and you get to know about each other’s life. It’s a beautiful and religious celebration and I enjoy worshipping ganpati.
Let the wishes be completely be in my heart (laughs). I think one of my wish is already completed when I won ‘Nach-Baliye’. I also had this in my heart to win this season and all the efforts have been beautifully paid off so one wish has already been completed. And the next wish, let’s not be too pleady at this point of time, he has already given us a lot and we are very happy and content with it.
There had been a small ‘Nach-baliye’ kind of concept six years back organised in my society and we had to dance and me and Amruta had performed in the society. We felt extremely happy and ecstatic with the fact that we performed the best. This was one day prior to the ganpati visarjan.
Romit Raj
Honestly these two days are very different from rest of the days. Different energy, different feeling and an amazing atmosphere at home. Lord Ganpati makes the entire house vibrant. House is smelling of flowers and scented sticks, sounds of bells and Ganpati music playing 48 hours is just amazing.
The two wishes are good healthy life for all in the family and we all stay happy together. We are a joint family where my parents, grandmother, my wife and daughter stay together. And second wish is I want to buy my Dream House and I want to buy it this Year itself.
When I was a child I remember dancing on "my name is Lakhan" song during Ganpati puja in our locality. I did win best performance for it.
Ankit Gera
Every year whenever he comes, he comes with great significance in my life. My career and ersonal graph always goes up only whenever he comes. So he comes with great prosperity, great success and his blessings too in my life.
Wishes can’t be told (laughs). I can’t say my wishes so I just wish that he keeps coming every year like this only.
My family always comes home in ganpati festival. So this year also my whole family is here. Even my sister is here from Canada so being with my whole family together is always memorable for me.
Gaurav Sharma
Ganpati for me is always special as he is my favourite and he is the god of wisdom. I always start all the good things with him.
I wish him to give me peace and good health to my family. Last year we brought 2 ganpatis and while visarjan all my family members cried including my nieces of three years and five years old. My nieces were crying, crying and crying. I had to get one more ganpati the same night and I gifted it to my nieces then only they stopped crying.
Mohit Malik
Ganpati festival is very exciting for me. Guests coming over and the atmospher gives very stress free feeling. I really enjoy when ganpati is around as it gives happiness. I wish to win ‘Jhalak Dikhla Ja’ this year and also wish to get a good film. Every ganpati is memorable for me as Mom-Dad comes from delhi and thats the only time when they come for the longest period so for me that is the best memory and it happens every year.
Arjun Bijlani
It brings a lot of positivity, wisdom into the house and this is the time in every year when your relatives and friends comes home to meet and we all do the aarti together. This time it’s even more special as my son Ayaan is there with me. This will be his first ganesh utsav and I am sure he will like it as he loves being around people.
I actually every year wish him to just keep us watching and I don’t think I need to ask something from him as he has been very kind as I have got such a beautiful son. Then too I just pray for everybody’s health and for the social cause, for the peace in the country where there is so much mass killing happening so I will pray that stops as soon as possible because every day we hear so many news about mass killing so I just hope that it stops
My mom makes special modaks stuffed with a lot of jaggery and coconuts which are way too delicious. Which she uses to keep in for ganpati as we call it- ‘bhog’. So I used to eat those modaks a lot in my younger days, now I am a little health conscious so I don’t have sweets that much but in my school and college days I used to love those modak and spend my entire ganesh chaturthi having them.
Vindhya Tiwary
The moment I came to Mumbai, Siddhivinayak was the first temple I visited and I wished I want to become a actor and please take care of me and be sweet to me. My wish came true and I have faith in him alot. I pray and I get so I have alot of faith in ganpati bappa as the during ganesh utsav, always something big and good happens with me and waiting for receiving more surprises from him.
I have many wishes. From childhood it self when we all use to pray my wishes had no end and everyone use to say me, ‘bas kar beta bas kar’ (laughs). I have not changed as a person as I used to be in my childhood and I only wish to be as I am and everything should be the same, I am happy with my life, success etc. So I wish to keep working, be happy and always have my parents as my support. Also give me strength to face all obstacles and problems in my life.
I have all good memories. As sadly I don’t get to keep him at my home as I get very busy these days and I guess this is his way of pampering me with loads of work, shows etc and wants me to only work (laughs). Watching different murtis of ganeshji and visiting friends place have some memorable time spent. The whole ambience becomes beautiful and peaceful and I share a very friendly relationship with ganeshji.

Ganpati is said to be the god of power, talent and wealth.I am not a religious person but just to see the ones who believe in ganpati happy and the elephant God idols all over the city it just makes it very positive. So yes ganpati instills a positivity in me and pushes me to work harder.
For wishes, I believe in my own hardwork to fulfill my wishes. But still I would wish happiness for myself from the elephant god
I get invites for ganpati festival from my friends. So visiting their houses during the festival time and being a part of their celebrations and enjoying yummy food are treasured memories.
Shashank Sethi
I am in Mumbai for almost nine and a half years now and When i was young I had heard about ganpati festival of Mumbai but had never saw. The very first time as I saw this festival I found it very attractive and cool. Specially loved the visarjans so much that I could not stop myself from dancing during the festival. so this festival for me is all about dancing and visiting friends.
I wish for India and Pakistan peace, India, china peace and all should do well in there life.
I remember last year when I had went for visarjan in Versova I had entered to the sea for the very first time and was just standing while someone pushed me into the sea. I thank god that I knew swimming which helped me manage to come out.
