Baby Shark: The toddler tune with 2 MILLION hits is taking over the world
In a bizarre turn of events, this kid's song is currently 32 on the Billboard top 40, and people can't seem to get it out of their heads!
The only kid's songs that turned out to be hits in the adult world were Rockabye by Clean Bandit which was a remake of the nursery rhyme. Obviously, it is extremely rare for kid-targeted pop songs to take over charts, let alone be on the top 40 Billboard charts! But this month, 'Baby Shark', a funky and infectious elementary school nursery rhyme made a splash into the charts and is currently on 32!
The one and a half minute song which revolves around a family of sharks and was a big hit back in the early 90s, is back on the top 40 thanks to a YouTube video which has more than 2 billion hits. The video also features a dance-along routine that seems to appeal to both kids and adults, according to its views. That, and the incredibly infectious "doo doo doo doo doo" tune that doesn't seem to leave your brain!
This this is not the only kid's song to reach such a high number on the charts. Although they are incredibly rare, they do happen. Alvin and the Chipmunks, a popular kids film was so popular that it held the number 1 spot on the top 40 charts for four consecutive weeks! Frozen's 'Let It Go' also became a raging overnight hit among kids and adults and took the 5th spot on the charts for multiple weeks.
This kids tune though, is doing more rounds than ever with host Jimmy Kimmel also talking about it on his show and proposing that those responsible for it be thrown in jail for life!
