In today’s era, when even a small defect in a physically abled skill or qualification could make you face rejection by corporate house, there is little hope for a differently abled person to seek a respectable job in the big bad corporate world.

But, there are a few good Samaritans like Mr. Patu Keswani, founder of Lemon Tree chain of hotels in India, who believe in the concept of equal opportunity at work that has only became a lesson restricted to be learnt in B-schools and barely practiced in real life.

In a rare attempt to help differently abled people find respectable employment and become independent, Mr. Keswani has found areas in his hotel where such staff members can be employed to make the best use of their talent.

This, he has been doing but without any sense of charity so that the differently abled staff can get that sense of dignity in their work life. And, it has been a win-win situation for both the employer and the employee.

Here’s hoping this inspires many other companies and we hope to see more such positive corporate endeavours in future.
