In a man’s world, it is a general notion that women are meant for cooking, cleaning, rearing children, looking after her husband’s needs.
If she opts to earn her own money, she still had to go about with her domestic duties. And, if the need arises to make a choice between home and work, it is she who is expected to give up her job for the sake of marriage, husband, children, in-laws etc.
