Shocking: Are rape victims marriage material? This is what the people living in India think!
We’ve witnessed scores of people marching against atrocities against women in the past. People talk about equality and women’s rights. But when it comes to marrying the rape victim to give her a happy future, it looks like in the end, it all boils down to ‘really? Are you kidding? She’s a rape victim after all’.
In this video, people from different walks of life are asked whether or not they will marry a rape victim. Wanna know the answers? Well, here you go.
A Muslim man was asked the same question and he refused getting his son married to a rape victim. He was asked why he would disagree. To this, his reply was, “I want a clean girl because my son is clean.”
Another man was asked why he would refuse to marry a rape victim. He said, “It is not her fault. It is just that I would not like to marry her.”
There were more saddening replies that showed such ridiculous disparities between a “clean girl” and a rape victim surpass every caste, race and religion. We are ready to protest against rape but will never marry one! Double standards, eh!
However, some good Samaritans also showed up during the survey. Their positive answers came as a respite. One man was asked if he would marry a rape survivor. He answered, “Yeah, if I love her.” He also added, “If you want to stop rape, then you should start treating those girl equally.” And, then there were more positive replies which showed that good people still co-exist on this planet.
