Maharashtra detects 8 new cases of Omicron, total tally now at 28; Report
Maharashtra reported eight new cases of the Omicron variant of coronavirus on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Maharashtra reported eight new cases of the Omicron variant of coronavirus. The seven cases were detected in the state’s capital Mumbai, while 1 case was recorded from Vasai Virar. As per the reports, none of the patients had a history of international travel, according to preliminary information.
ANI, in a tweet, informed, “8 more patients found infected with #Omicron in the state. Out of these 7 are from Mumbai & 1 patient is from Vasai Virar. Till date, a total of 28 patients infected with Omicron have been reported in the state. Out of these, 9 have been discharged after negative RT-PCR test.”
Meanwhile, Maharashtra’s overall new cases of COVID-19 stood at 684, taking the cumulative active caseload to 6,481. While 686 patients recovered from the disease, 24 people lost their lives to the virus. With the new numbers, the total deaths reported from the state now stand at 1,41,288, while 64,93,688 total recoveries have been recorded so far.
Earlier, in the day, Delhi also reported four more cases of Omicron variant. Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain informed the same and said all the patients had travel history to other countries.
"So far, six people have been found Omicron-positive in the capital. One of them has been discharged. All of them had travelled to foreign countries and were transferred to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) hospital from the (Indira Gandhi International) airport," Delhi Health Minister had said. He also added that the situation was under control.
