Bollywood celebrities mourn the demise of Sheila Dikshit, former Chief Minister of Delhi who passed away at the age of 81 today
Former Chief Minister of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit passed away today afternoon at the age of 81. She was admitted to private hospital Escorts Heart Institute in the national capital on 19th July and was put on ventilator. While her condition stabilized temporarily, she did not recover from multiple cardiac arrests. Not only was she one of the longest-serving chief ministers of Delhi, she was also the longest-serving female chief minister of any Indian state, serving from 1998 to 2013, a period of 15 long years.
Leaders all around the nation took to their social media handles to mourn the tragic loss. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted: “Deeply saddened by the demise of Sheila Dikshit Ji. Blessed with a warm and affable personality, she made a noteworthy contribution to Delhi’s development. Condolences to her family and supporters. Om Shanti.”
Bollywood celebs too offered condolences on the former Chief Minister's demise. Actor Akshay Kumar tweeted: “Extremely sad to know about the passing away of #SheilaDixit ji...she effectively changed the face of Delhi during her tenure. Heartfelt condolences to her family.” Richa Chadda also wrote an emotional note which reads: “#SheilaDixit demise will feel like a personal loss to anyone who grew up in Delhi. During my school and college, the green cover of Delhi actually grew by 300% ! A tall leader. Rest in peace ma'am. Condolences to family.”
