When 17 Bollywood Celebs Were Caught On The Wrong Side Of The Law

Their lives are not as luxurious and picture-perfect as we think! They too have their moments of weaknesses! Yes, even our Bollywood stars commit mistakes (and crimes)! They have been, time and again, charged for various crimes - rape, molestation, casting couch, forgeries, murders, et al! Here's a lowdown - these Bollywood personalities have violated the laws of the court, landing themselves in trouble, and in jail at times!

1. Ankit Tiwari

A few days ago, the Aashiqui 2 singer, Ankit Tiwari, was jailed for raping his former girlfriend after having promised to marry her. The victim's sister filed a police case against Ankit. She also stated that even Ankit's brother has threatened her sister of dire consequences if she lodged a complaint. The Sun Raha Hai Na Tu singer has been sent to judicial custody till 26th May 2014.

2. Inder Kumar

Few weeks before the Ankit Tiwari rape case, we heard about Inder Kumar rape case. The actor was charged for physically abusing and torturing a 23-year old model. He was also charged for burning the girl with cigarettes and attacking her with forks and beer bottles. As per the police reports, Kumar had been found guilty and has been detained.

3. Shiney Ahuja

Who would believe a National Award winner could stoop to such a low level? Shiney Ahuja was arrested for raping his young maidservant in 2009. Though the actor is out on bail currently, his Bollywood career has bid him a goodbye.

4. Shakti Kapoor

The actor was embroiled in the biggest controversy of his life when a sting operation was conducted on him in 2005. The footage had Shakti asking the undercover reporter sexual favours in exchange of a good career in the industry. The reports took the nation by storm!

5. Madhur Bhandarkar

The ace filmmaker, famous for creating realistic movies like Fashion and Page 3, was alleged to have raped an aspiring actress, Preeti Jain, in 2004. The girl accused Bhandarkar of making false promises to her in a chase to get intimate with her. She claimed that Madhur promised to marry her as well as give her a lead role in his film, which he never fulfilled, but continued sexually assaulting her between 1999 and 2004. However, police reports stated that Preeti's claims had no truth to them, thus Bhandarkar was acquitted.

6. Aditya Pancholi

Aditya had allegedly raped his ex-girlfriend Pooja Bedi's 15-year-old maid. Pooja and Aditya were a couple that time, and Pooja broke up with him because of the allegation.

7. Sooraj Pancholi

All set to make his Bollywood debut, Aditya's son Sooraj found himself behind the bars for allegedly abetting actress and his ex-girlfriend, Jiah Khan's suicide. Reportedly, Sooraj was the last person Jiah had spoken to, before committing suicide at her Juhu residence in June 2013. The pre-trial proceedings are underway.

8. Raj Kumar Santoshi

Mamta Kulkarni accused filmmaker Raj Kumar Santoshi for sexually harassing her on the sets of China Gate. Santoshi refuted the charges, and edited many portions of the film that had Mamta in them. The actress was hardly ever seen in film-circles post this incident.

9. Sanjay Dutt

Accused of his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case and for the illegal possession of weapons, Sanjay Dutt was arrested last year and jailed for five years, 18 months of which he had already spent in jail during the trial.

10. Salman Khan

Salman has been associated with a number of criminal charges. In 2002, the actor was booked under culpable homicide when his car rammed onto a Mumbai pavement, thus killing one and injuring three. The actor has also been charged for killing two endangered black bucks and two chinkaras in 2006, the trial of which is still going on.

11. Saif Ali Khan

Apart from Salman, there were four other accused in the blackbuck poaching case – Saif Ali Khan, Neelam, Sonali Bendre and Tabu. They all were booked for shooting the endangered animals.

Saif has also been involved in a physical abuse case. The actor was charge-sheeted for hitting an NRI businessman at the Wasabi Restaurant at the Taj Mahal Hotel.

12. Fardeen Khan

He may not have an impressive filmography to boast of, but Fardeen Khan will always be remembered for the criminal charges against him for possessing cocaine, in 2001. The actor was yet again found with one gram cocaine in 2010 by a special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act Court.

13. John Abraham

His love for superbikes landed him in soup once. John was charged for rash and negligent driving in 2006. Two unfortunate pedestrians were injured in the accident. However, John was bailed out.

14. Shah Rukh Khan

SRK landed in troubled waters when an IPL match was being played between his team KKR and Mumbai Indians at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium in 2012. Khan had a tiff with the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) officials where the actor accused them of manhandling his children. On the other hand, the MCA officials accused Shah Rukh of misbehaving with them in a drunken state. The fight got so worse that eventually the actor was banned from the stadium for five years.

15. Govinda

While shooting for his film, Money Hai Toh Honey Hai in 2008, Govinda had allegedly slapped a visitor. The actor claimed that the visitor had been misbehaving with the people on the sets. Govinda hasn't been pleaded guilty and the case still remains pending in the court.

16. Monica Bedi

Famous as the underworld don Abu Salem's girlfriend, the Bollywood actress Monica Bedi was jailed for five years in 2005 in a passport forgery case when she, along with her bea, tried to enter Portugal.

17. Preity Zinta

Preity and three other co-owners of the IPL team Kings XI Punjab were accused of trying to conceal the real financial position of their team. The actress then filed a counter-petition, asserting that there should have been an enquiry before filing a complaint. Finally, the case was shut after a couple of years, in 2011.
