Xbox Series X|S games are now available to stream on Xbox One, But there is a catch

Microsoft has released an update for the Xbox One that adds cloud gaming support, allowing users to stream Xbox Series X|S-quality games to the ageing console. However, this feature is currently only available to testers.

The October 25 update for Alpha Skip-Ahead users added cloud gaming support for the Xbox One, a console that debuted in 2013 and is significantly less powerful than the Series X|S. For testers in the Xbox Insider programme, which is free and open to anyone, the feature was already available on the Xbox Series X|S.

Users can stream a selection of Game Pass titles to their Xbox One via Xbox Cloud Gaming. While the quality isn't always perfect and can vary depending on the strength and consistency of your internet connection, it's a convenient way to try out a game without having to download it. However, Microsoft claims that downloading a game to your hard drive will provide the best experience.

With this new feature, Xbox One owners will be able to stream not only Series X|S versions of Xbox games but also new-generation exclusives that they would not otherwise be able to play on their console.

The same update, released on October 25, made it easier to stream to Twitch. These updates are now available for testers before being rolled out to everyone at a later date by Microsoft.

As previously stated, users can join the Xbox Insider programme and enrol their console in one of the testing rings to try out updates before they are made available to the general public.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is still in beta, but Microsoft is optimistic about it. The company has a bold goal of reaching 3 billion gamers worldwide, and thanks to Xbox Cloud Gaming, anyone with a smartphone, in addition to PC and console, is a potential customer.
