Sony is offering UK users free trials of two games

Sony is giving away two PS5 games for free: Death Stranding Director's Cut and Sackboy: A Big Adventure.

As reported by gamesradar.com, for now, it appears that the free samples are only available in the UK, and the amount of time you'll get depends on which game you choose; Sackboy reportedly offers five hours of play, whereas Death Stranding offers six.

Sony's new offer was first noticed by PlayStation owners via email. “Have you ever wanted to try some of PlayStation Studios' most popular games before committing to the full game? “You can now,” the email says. According to Sony, the games are redeemable on the PlayStation Store until October 28th at 11:59 PM, and the trial period begins when you select “Download Trial” on the console or “Add to Library” on the web.

The games will be playable only for a limited duration of 5 and 6 hours each as pointed by Eurogamer. 

Any progress and trophies users earn will be saved if they decide to buy the full game; however, if they decide to buy DLC to try during the trial, they won't be able to play it; add-ons can only be used with the full version of the game.

Fortunately, the internet has already discovered a workaround, so before you begin your download, Redditor jsnals recommends creating a new account with the same region as your main account and clicking "download trial" on that account. Return to your main account and click "download trial," but because you've already saved it to your hard drive, you can play for the full five or six hours right away. 

Death Stranding is an action game released in 2019 by Kojima Productions. It is the first game directed by Hideo Kojima and produced by Kojima Productions since their split from Konami in 2015. Sony Interactive Entertainment released it for the PlayStation 4 in November 2019, and 505 Games released it for Windows in July 2020. Death Stranding Director's Cut is one of the more valuable PS5 upgrades available. This new edition costs $10 (if you already own the PS4 version) and includes extra missions, improved visuals and performance, more tools and items, DualSense-powered haptic feedback, and 3D audio support.
