Niantic Testing changes to the Pokémon GO gameplay

Niantic announced in a blog post that it will be testing a number of changes to Pokemon Go in the coming months, with "minor gameplay adjustments" to be tested in specific regions before being rolled out globally.

The developer has not stated which regions will be the first to test these gameplay tweaks and changes, but it has revealed some of the features it is considering changing or adding.

These include a new Special Research storey designed to introduce newcomers to the game, as well as an update that will suggest nicknames for people entering the world of Pokemon Go for the first time. Niantic will also be testing an expansion to its Trainer Tips for players who still need a little help.

Existing players will also receive updates, with Niantic promising improvements to PokeStops and egg hatchings, both of which are important components of the core game. The developer hasn't gone into too much detail about the promised "new PokeStop functionalities," but it has stated that one of the changes to the egg hatching process will be the ability to skip the hatching animation.

It's not assured that all of these changes will make it into the game full-time, as they're still being tested in limited regions.

Whenever the changes are available to a wider audience, we'll be sure to hear more about how the new or changed features work in-game.

Starting this Friday, October 14, Pokemon Go's seasonal Halloween content will be released. It will feature new storey content, spooky cosmetics, and new Pokemon debuting in the game. You can read more about the seasonal Halloween content in our previous article.
