India is ranked in fifth position in the global gaming market and Facebook is doing well with the game play sessions clocking 234 million during the month of July and August and now it has the third largest market in India. The gaming industry has grown a lot in the last couple of years and especially in India. However, Facebook has not disclosed the number of Indian users who are playing games on the Facebook platform but the global number of users have increased to 380 million. Some experts say that India’s gaming market is going to increase to $6-7 billion by 2025.

Gaming restructure

Facebook has restructured the gaming experience for the users by going beyond the social games and adding new features and services such as virtual reality, game streaming and cloud gaming. The American tech giant released a gaming tab that lets the users play games, watch game streaming videos and connect with other people through groups. The company also launched the Facebook Gaming app in April last year.

Facebook is looking forward to developing a platform that will allow the developers to get a good reach and also they will be able to monetise their games. The game publishers are engaging with new people and providing them with instant playable versions of their games through the Facebook gaming platform. Around 20 million people in India became active members of the groups on the platform in July and August this year.

Facebook is in talks with several gaming video creators and publishers to boost the game streaming service which is currently dominated by YouTube. The company’s prime focus is to bring as many creators they can to stream on their platform and also they are specifically searching for female creators. Apart from English, many languages such as Bengali, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil did well on the platform.

The company has invited developers like Krafton and Garena to create content for the Facebook Gaming platform. The creators will be able to earn money through ads and on demand content that they will promote during a live stream on the Facebook Gaming Platform.
