Cyberpunk 2077 And The Witcher 3 for PS5 And Xbox Series delayed till 2022

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in Q1 2022, followed by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in Q2 2022, according to CD Projekt Red. They were supposed to come out around the end of 2021, which would have been about a year after the games first came out on last-gen consoles and PC.

The target dates for the new versions of both games were "late 2021," according to the company's earnings report last month. Michael Nowakowski of CD Projekt said on an earnings call that the release date could be pushed back to 2022.

These updated versions will take advantage of the new hardware's horsepower, giving them a better look and, presumably, better performance than the PS4 and Xbox One versions. Specific enhancements or load times reductions have yet to be revealed. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will also include all previous expansions as well as some new content inspired by the Netflix TV adaptation.

Owners of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be eligible for a free upgrade to the new versions when they are released. Although the game is not a bespoke version made for them, certain upgrades are now available on the newer systems.

Since its release in December 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 has had quite the year. After being removed from the PlayStation Network Store shortly after its release, it was reintroduced in June with the caveat that players may still encounter issues when using the base PS4 console. This year, however, the game has received a steady stream of patches to address performance and bug issues.
