Yes or No? Amabati Rayadu drops huge hint regarding ODI comeback
After being constantly ignored for the 2019 World Cup, Rayadu announced his retirement from cricket.
Former India cricketer Ambati Rayudu has dropped a huge bomb regarding his cricket career after hinting at making a comeback in white-ball format. The 33-year-old is currently playing in TNCA one-day league where he is representing Grand Slam in the tournament.
Speaking to Sportstar, Rayadu confirmed that he is obviously open to the idea of playing for India and in the Indian Premier League (IPL) again. “I haven’t thought much but I would prepare well to come back to white-ball cricket as soon as possible. I love the game, obviously. See ambition and targets are one thing but it still is the game I love. It is about playing cricket. So, I thought why not take it forward? Nothing like a target or anything. But my first priority would be to get fully fit. I have not played cricket for a while now and it would take me maybe a month and a half to get fully fit.” he said.
Rayadu had a vote of confidence from skipper Virat Kohli after he confirmed his place as India’s number four for the World Cup couple of months before the start of the mega event. He experienced a dip in form with the bat and it was during this time that Tamil Nadu all-rounder Vijay Shankar started doing well in the shorter format with the limited opportunities and booked a ticket for the World Cup.
The right-handed middle-order batsman took a dig at the selectors with the 3D tweet which made his case even more tougher. After being constantly ignored for the 2019 World Cup, the right-handed batsman announced retirement from all the forms of the games.
Speaking about his decision to retire the Hyderabadi said “Not really an emotional decision. No. I mean I had worked a lot for the World Cup for four to five years. Obviously, you will be a bit disappointed. But I had thought maybe it was time, not because it was rejection or emotion, but you work towards something and maybe then you want something else.
The Vijay Hazare Trophy is scheduled to begin on September 24 this year, and with Rayudu eyeing a return, he might make himself available for selection.
