Sri Lanka vs New Zealand: Ross Taylor hopes Black Caps can showing fighting spirit in second Test
Sri Lanka defeated New Zealand in the first Test, with the second game slated to begin from Thursday at Colombo.
After Sri Lanka won the first Test against New Zealand convincingly, the visitors will be hoping to stage a comeback in the next game, which begins from Thursday at Colombo.
Ross Taylor, who had scored a crucial 86 in the first innings for his team in the first match at Galle last week is excited to play at the P Sara Stadium, a venue where his team has faced some success.
"P Sara is a ground that we've had some success in the past and hopefully we can replicate that," Taylor said. "It's always nice to come back to a ground where you have had some success.
"But at the same time it's a different game and different circumstances. Being 1-0 down in the series we need to get our first win in the Test championship.
"I'm sure Sri Lanka will be doing their best to stop that."
The middle order batsman also admitted that New Zealand were not good enough in the first Test, in which Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne scored 122 and Lahiru Thirimanne got 162 in a run chase of 268.
"Very disappointed to lose the game," Taylor added. "We tried everything but just weren't good enough.
"We have been in this situation many times before, been 1-0 down and have come back strong.
"That's all we can ask for, to show the fighting spirit the team is renowned for and hopefully we can put this very good Sri Lanka side under some pressure."
