Sri Lanka will play the first Test against New Zealand from August 14 next week at Galle.

Sri Lanka vs New Zealand: Dinesh Chandimal selected in preliminary squad for Tests

Sri Lanka's former skipper Dinesh Chandimal was named in the 22-member preliminary squad for the two Test match series that will start from August 14 against New Zealand. Both sides will play their first game of the World Championships with the two-match series that will start at Galle. Dimuth Karunaratne will captain the 15-member team, which will be selected rom the 22. 

"The final 15 will be selected out of the given squad," the Sri Lanka Cricket said in a release.

Oshada Fernando and Kusal Mendis, who played a huge role in Sri Lanka's historic Test series win against South Africa earlier, have also been selected. 

Apart from Chandimal, Akila Dananjaya and Dilruwan Perere have also been recalled in the squad. 

Last month, Sri Lanka put up a clinical performance against Bangaldesh to win the ODI series 3-0.
