New Zealand's BJ Watling and Colin de Grandhomme helped the Black Caps to a lead of 138 runs on day four of the second and final Test match against Sri Lanka that is being held at Colombo. Tom Latham and Watling resumed the day with the Kiwi score on 196 for 3, with Latham batting on an unbeaten 111. He went on to get 150 runs and stitched 143 runs with Watling, who got his fifty. 

Dilruwan Perera finally got the wicket of Latham as he was sent back for 154. Colin de Grandhomme then walked out to bat, and he and Watling ensured that no further wickets fell on the day. The former played aggressively from the very start and was unstoppable as he kept smashing the Lankan bowlers for regular fours. He went on to hammer two sixes and a four in Lasith Embuldeniya's over to get his fifty in only 45 balls. 

Rain made its presence fell in the 103rd over of the innings, but it soon stopped and play resumed, with both batters adding runs to the scoreboard and taking their partnership to 113 runs as New Zealand went past the 350-run mark. 

Watling was batting on 81 and Grandhomme was on 83 at the end of Day 4, and the Black Caps will resume at 382 for 5 with a lead to 138 in their kitty.
