Sourav Ganguly: Test cricket is alive due to the Ashes

Former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly feels that the high standard of cricket on offer in the ongoing Ashes series between England and Australia is a major reason why fans turn to Test cricket. Two Tests have been held between the arch-rivals thus far, with the first Test being won by Australia. The second game was drawn, but not before scintillating spells of fast bowling and resilient batting were seen.

Ganguly believes that it is now upto the other Test playing nations to raise their level of cricket in the format and keep the game alive.

"The Ashes series has kept Test cricket alive...up to rest of the world to raise their standard," Ganguly tweeted late on Sunday.

The third Test between the two nations will begin from Thursday, also the same day when India take on West Indies in the first Test of the two-match Test series.
