Robin Singh wants Ravi Shastri to be changed as India's coach
Former Indian all-rounder Robin Singh took a dig at Ravi Shastri, saying under his tenure, India lost two World Cups.
Former Indian cricketer, Robin Singh on Sunday said that it's time to change India's head coach as under Ravi Shastri, India has lost two World Cups.
Robin has reportedly applied for the head coach's spot as Committee of Administrators (CoA) driven BCCI recently invited applications for several positions in Team India coaching staff. The former all-rounder remarked that a change ahead of 2023 World Cup can help,
"Under the current coach, India has lost in the semi-finals of two successive ODI World Cups, and in the last four stage of the World Twenty20 championship as well. Now is the time to prepare for the 2023 World Cup and a change could be good for the side," Robin Singh told The Hindu.
The current staff was supposed to be withdrawn from its role after the World Cup, however, BCCI extended the contract for 45 more days. Ravi Shastri and other coaching staff will be traveling to West Indies for a long tour as their last assignment in the current tenure.
BCCI recently invited applications for the post of head coach, batting coach, bowling coach, fielding coach, physiotherapist, strength and conditioning coach and administrative manager.
"The current coaching staff of Team India (Senior Men) will get an automatic entry in the recruitment process," the BCCI said in a release.
"Pertinent to note, that the decision of the BCCI for the said position, will remain final and binding," It said.
