Indian selectors on Thursday named squad for the T20I home series against South Africa with MS Dhoni being the notable absentee. After crashed out in the semi-finals against New Zealand in 2019 World Cup, Dhoni has been out of action due to a self-imposed sabbatical. The former Team India skipper spent 15 days serving the Indian Army in Kashmir. With the focus on the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2020, the selectors have seemingly put their faith in the Rishabh Pant’s going forward.

It looks like Dhoni has already made alternate plans after hanging his boots and Bollywood seems to be the destination. According to reports, there are rumors suggesting that  Dhoni could turn film producer and may join hands with his friend and Bollywood actor John Abraham for his first project, although there is no official confirmation yet.

“Films have always interested in Dhoni. He is a huge movie buff. When Neeraj Pandey made the biopic on the superstar-cricketer, he got a chance to observe the entertainment industry up close, and he loved it. He was waiting for an opportune time to take the plunge,” a source was quoted as saying by Deccan Chronicle.

MS Dhoni’s biopic, which came out in 2016 proved to be a massive hit with the audiences as it portrayed the humble beginnings of a boy from Jharkhand and how he transformed from a railway ticket-collector to the two-time World Cup-winning captain. Nothing has been official now but this move could be a masterstroke, given his sharp mind and business acumen.
