India fast bowler Navdeep Saini breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, after he used actions or gestures that could provoke an aggressive reaction by the opponent batsman after his dismissal. The incident occured during the first T20I between India and West Indies on August 3, and he was handed a demerit point for the same.

After taking Nicholas Pooran's wicket in the game in the fifth over, Saini gave the dismissed player an animated send-off. The Indian admitted to the offence after the game, and accepted the penalty as well. Hence, there was no need for a format hearing.

What are the rules:

: When a player reaches four or more demerit points within a 24-month period, they are converted into suspension points and a player is banned

: Two suspension points equate to a ban from one Test or two ODIs or two T20Is, whatever comes first for the player

: Demerit Points to remain on a Player or Player Support Personnel’s disciplinary record for a period of twenty-four (24) months from their imposition following which they will be expunged

The bowler starred in his debut game as he picked up 3 wickets, but went wicketless in the second match. India have won both the games, and are 2-0 up in the three-match T20I series, with the last game taking place tomorrow at Guyana.
