The selection process for various positions in Team India was finally over on Thursday after Board for Control of Cricket in India's (BCCI) Selection Committee announced that R Sridhar would continue his stint as national sides fielding coach.

The biggest surprise of the day was former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes who has worked with Mumbai Indians failing to make the 3-man final list which was announced by the cricketing body.

The selection committee named  R Sridhar, Abhay Sharma and T Dilip in the 3-man list and ultimately it was Sridhar who got the nod over the other two.

Speaking to PTI the chairman of the selection committee MSK Prasad revealed that  Rhodes' name was not included as the second and the third names considered for India A level and National Cricket Academy support staff.

"R Sridhar is one of the best fielding coaches. Unfortunately in the World Cup, maybe he wouldn't have got... there were 2-3 wicketkeepers in the side, we all know that. Otherwise, he has transformed this into a wonderful fielding unit. There is no second thoughts about Sridhar," he said.

With regards to the 2nd and 3rd position, we don't see Jonty Rhodes fitting in there because those roles are more for India A levels and the NCA," he added.
