Kapil Dev: Kohli and Rohit can have differences as long as it does not affect them on the field
Reports of a rift between Kohli and Rohit are doing the rounds but Kapil Dev believed that as long as the duo are committed to the team on the field, the personal differences should not be highlighted.
Skipper Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma can have differences between them off the field but what matters is their on-field committment to the team, former Indian captain Kapil Dev remarked on Thursday.
There have been reports of a rift between Kohli and Rohit post the World Cup 2019 loss in the semis, though the former rubbished them ahead of the side's tour of Unites States and West Indies, where they will play three T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests.
"There can be off the field differences but it depends how you play on the field. Everyone should look into that," Kapil said.
"Off the field, the way of thinking can be different, approach can be different. But when you're playing there's only one aim — how we can win a match. That is important. Differences of opinion does not mean you will be pulling somebody down," Kapil, who had a hot and cold relationship with Sunil Gavaskar during the early and mid 80's.
He also took a dig at the media and urged them to be more mature while reporting.
"You have to do your job, right. Thoda bahut toh aap bhi help karte ho naa rumour banane mein. (You people also do your bit in spreading rumours)," he said.
