Jonty Rhodes applies for India's fielding coach's position
Legendary South African fielder Jonty Rhodes has applied for Team India's fielding coach's position as the tenure of current support staff is expiring soon
Former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes has applied for Indian cricket team’s fielding coach’s position as the tenure of the current coaching staff is about to expire. The Board of Control for Cricket in India recently invited the applications for several posts. Rhodes, being one of the best fielders produced in the cricket world, will be in the line to become India’s next fielding coach.
“He (Rhodes) has emailed his application. He is one of the greatest fielders of all times. We are expecting some more names to join the fray,” a Board of Control for Cricket in India official confirmed to Sportstar.
Rhodes has been formerly part of Mumbai Indians’ coaching staff in the Indian Premier League. The 49-year-old was skilled with unreal fielding skills, which earned him the best fielder’s tag. Pertinently, he has had good outings as a coach as well.
BCCI will surely give his application a thought as his inclusion will surely be a booster for Virat Kohli and Co. At now R. Sridhar is engaged sd India’s fielding coach.
There have been speculations that Tom Moody and Mahela Jayawardene have applied for the head coach’s job. After asked by Sportstar about the same, a BCCI official said, “There is still some time left and there could be some big names applying for various roles,”
