India's Sundaram Ravi misses out as ICC names new list of Elite Panel of Umpires
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the new Elite Panel of Umpires and Match Referees. Javagal Srinath is the only indian match official in the list.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the new list of elite panel of umpires for the upcoming season. The only Indian umpire in the fray, Sundaram Ravi was removed from this list on Tuesday. The ICC also announced the inclusion of Michael Gough and Joel Wilson for the 2019-20 season. This decision was taken by a panel comprising of Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar, Ranjan Madugalle and David Boon along with ICC General Manager, Geoff Allardice.
Here we have a look at the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Umpires:
Aleem Dar, Kumar Dharmasena, Marais Erasmus, Chris Gaffaney, Richard Illingworth, Richard Kettleborough, Nigel Llong, Bruce Oxenford, Paul Reiffel, Rod Tucker, Michael Gough and Joel Wilson.
Gough and Wilson will replace Sundaram Ravi and Ian Gould. Ian Gould announced his retirement after the final of ICC World Cup 2019.
"Being an elite official is an extremely challenging job. Every decision is scrutinized by millions of fans and each match official is subjected to a rigorous ongoing performance assessment throughout the year. We are fortunate to have some fantastic officials who are able to withstand the pressures of the job and deliver consistently on the international stage. Michael and Joel are deserving additions to the Emirated ICC Elite Panel of Umpires and I wish them all the best for the coming season and for the future," said Adam Griffith, ICC Senior Manager - Umpires and Referees.
The Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees remains unchanged with former India pacer Javagal Srinath in the fray. This list comprises of David Boon, Chris Broad, Jeff Crowe, Ranjan Madugalle, Andy Pycroft, Richie Richardson and Javagal Srinath.
These match officials will officiate in the ICC World Test Championship commencing on 1st August.
