Rohit Sharma, who is the leading run-scorer for India in T20Is, set a new world record on Sunday as he overhauled Chris Gayle's record of 105 sixes in the format.
Indian opener Rohit Sharma set a new world record for hitting the most sixes by any batsman in T20Is during the ongoing 2nd T20I between India and West Indies at Florida.
Sharma overtook Chris Gayle as he hit his 106th six in T20Is. The Indian was four sixes behind Gayle's mark of 105 sixes before the start of the series. He overtook the West Indian in the 11th over of the Indian innings today, as he lofted Sunil Narine for his second maximum of the game. He had hit two in the first game on Saturday.
Sharma is already the highest six-hitter for India in ODIs with 232 sixes, and is ranked 4th in the overall list of most sixes hit in the 50-over format.
He is also the highest run-scorer for India in T20Is, and the only batter to hit four tons in the format in the world. He averages over 32 in T-20 internationals, and has a strike rate of 137 with 17 fifties to his name. He was out for 67 in the second T20I.
