Team India are on the front foot in the first Test against West Indies as they have set the hosts a huge target of 419 to win the game and go 1-0 up in the two-match Test series.

India started Day 4 already in a healthy position with a lead of 260 runs, and though skipper Virat Kohli was sent back early in the day after he had made 51, the duo of Hanuma Vihari and Ajinkya Rahane batted sensibly and piled on the anguish for the Windies side. Rahane got his 10th Test hundred, while Vihari also stepped up and grabbed his chance as he accompanied Rahane well.

Towards the end, both the batters were, however, sent back in quick succession as Shannon Gabriel sent back Rahane for 102 while Jason Holder got Vihari's wicket when he was on 93. Rishabh Pant's poor form with the bat continued as he once again played a poor shot and was out by substitute fielder Keemp Paul.

India eventually declared their innings at 243 for 7, which meant that Windies need 419 to win the first game.
