After completing a whitewash in the T20 series, Virat Kohli and his men will look to carry on the good form and start the ODI series with a bang. Throughout the tour, India has found new players who have risen up to the occasion. The likes of Navdeep Saini and Krunal Pandya exceeded expectations with their performances. The ODI series will present a new opportunity to the likes of Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, Navdeep Saini and Khaleel Ahmed to cement their places in the limited overs side.

Here we have a look at the players to watch out for during the first ODI at Providence Stadium in Guyana:

Virat Kohli:

The skipper has been in sublime form over the past couple of years. He amassed runs at will in the recently concluded ICC World Cup 2019 and reduced the burden of the fragile middle-order. The matter of concern for Virat and his fans would be that he has had a few games where he has failed to convert his half-centuries to three-figure scores. The first ODI at Guyana presents a wonderful opportunity for the skipper to showcase his abilities.

Rohit Sharma:

The opener is currently in the form of his life. He smashed five centuries in England and took the team to the knockout stages of the tournament in the absence of Shikhar Dhawan. He also scored a strokeful half-century in the T20 series. He is expected to add more runs at the top of the order and form a potent partnership with Shikhar Dhawan.

Chris Gayle:

The 39 year-old Jamaican had a quiet ICC World Cup by his standards. The series against familiar foes would be the last time that he would be playing for the West Indies. Till date, he has smashed 326 sixes in ODIs. If the swashbuckling opener gets going at the top, he would lit up the entire stadium and ensure a respectable total for his side.
