Heinrich Klaasen replaces injured Rudi Second in South Africa's Test team for series against India
Klaasen has played 14 ODIs and nine T20Is, but is yet to make his Test debut.
Wicket-keeper Rudi Second, who was included in South Africa's Test squad for the tour to India in October, has been ruled out due to an injury. Heinrich Klaasen has ben called as his replacemnt.
The CSA stated that Second, who was one of the new faces in the Proteas team that will play three Tests in India, suffered an injury while practising with the South Africa A team. He will need surgery, and has, thus, been ruled out.
"Klaasen is part of the one-day squad for the South Africa A tour and he will now be added to the squad in Second's place for the four-day series that will assist his preparation for the Proteas Test series," said CSA Acting Director of Cricket Corrie van Zyl.
The Test series starts from October 2 at Vizag. The CSA also confirmed that the second game will now be played in Pune from October 10, while the final Test will be played in Ranchi from October 19.
"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also announced the switching of venues for the Test section of the tour. The second Test match will now be played at Pune and the final one at Ranchi," the CSA said on its website.
Before the Test series, South Africa will play three T20Is, while the South Africa A team will play five ODIs against India A from August 29.
Klaasen has played 14 ODIs and nine T20Is, but is yet to make his Test debut.
