Being at my best in World Championship was the key to success: PV Sindhu
Sindhu said that the victory was an answer to people who had criticized her for recent failure.
PV Sindhu finally managed to cross the finish line at the World Championship that has eluded her in past. She has now become the golden girl of Indian badminton after winning the Gold in Basel on Sunday. In an exclusive chat with Sportstar the Hyderabadi shuttler said that she staying at her best led her to win the title.
“I can’t say whether there was any specific turning point of the championship, but I must repeat that I was at my best in this world championship over a week and that was the key to my success".
P V Sindhu, says she played her best badminton in recent times and, more importantly, played consistently right through the World Championships. Honestly, I was expecting a long battle given (Nozomi) Okuhara’s reputation. But I am glad that I could peak at the right time and never really let the lead slip away,” Sindhu said.
After winning the final she thanked her coaches for getting the best out of her during the tournament.
“Definitely, Korean coach Kim Ji Hyun’s inputs and Gopi (P. Gopi Chand) Sir’s guidance were major plus points in my campaign,” she said. “I must say Kim has her own effective style of getting the best out of me,” she added.
In her previous attempts in the same competition Sindhu had come up short, but she said that the victory was an answer to people who had criticized her for recent failure. She felt "angry and sad" and Sunday's victory was her answer to all "the people who have asked me questions over and over".
