BCCI eager to solve alleged rift between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli
Rifts between Kohli and Rohit Sharma are doing the rounds after the World Cup 2019 semis loss, with the story about split captaincy allegedly causing bad blood between the two.
Differences between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been doing the rounds ever since the Indian team were knocked out of the recent World Cup 2019 in the semis. Though the BCCI had claimed that all was well between the star players, the latest news is that the board is concerned, with CEO Rahul Johri set to fly to US next week to douse the fire between the two.
"In today's age when support groups get involved, things can get messy. Both are mature individuals and things should be back on track after being spoken with," a BCCI source told India Today.
However, the source also maintained that the rift is a media creation.
Ravi Shastri is likely to be present in the room as well, as Johri along with Shastri discuss the importance of a healthy dressing room atmosphere.
The Indian team will depart for the USA on Monday night, where the first two T20Is against Windies will be held. While the games on 3rd and 4th August will he held at Florida, the remaining games will be played in the Carribean.
The biggest reason for the rift, it seems, is the story of split captaincy that is doing the rounds. However, the BCCI is keen to continue with Kohli across formats, and his immediate focus will be on the Test Championships and the T20 World Cup next year.
