Ashes 2019 3rd Test Day 3 Live score: Resilient England need 203 more for miracle win after Root, Denly 50s

After being set a huge target of 359 to win the third Ashes Test, England put up a strong showing on Day 3 of the game as they ended on 156 for 3, courtesy fine fifties from Joe Root and Joe Denly. While Root was unbeaten on 75 at stumps, Denly was dismissed after making 50.

The duo constantly nullified the threat of the Aussie pacers with solid defence and patience - all the things that the English innings lacked when they were bowled out for only 67 in the first innings of the match. The two Joes managed to put up 126 on the board, after the hosts had slumped to 15 for 2 and were once again in danger of getting dismissed for a low total.

The Australian fast bowlers were on the mark but went unrewarded, and the home team now need to play calmly and with maturity if they want to chase the target down and go level in the series.
