West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell has been named in the T20I squad for the first two games against India but his inclusion will depend on him passing a fitness test.

Russell, who was a member of the Windies' World Cup 2019 squad, had to exit the edition midway due to a knee injury. He is now recuperating and hopes to be fit for the T20Is that start from August 3.

The cricketer posted a video of himself batting in the nets on Instagram, and though he looked in good shape, whether he is deemed match fit remains to be seen.

Russell had played only four games in the World Cup, before pulling out due to a persistent niggle in his left knee, which was operated on. He could only score 36 runs with the bat, but did manage to pick 5 wickets with the ball.

West Indies squad for first 2 T20Is: John Campbell, Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Rovman Powell, Carlos Brathwaite (c), Keemo Paul, Sunil Narine, Sheldon Cottrell, Oshane Thomas, Anthony Bramble, Andre Russell, Khary Pierre.
