Indian Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane did all the talking with his match-winning hundred during the first test against West Indies in Antigua. He was under immense pressure after his failure to put up huge scores. The Mumbai born batsman though remained calmed and did not focus on uncontrolled criticism.
Coming into the Antigua Test, the form of Team India's Test vice-captain had declined failing to score any international centuries in 39 innings while he scored only five half-centuries in 28 Test innings.
However, coming to bat when the team was in a tough situation in the first innings, Rahane scored the incredible 81 runs. In the second innings, the right-hander did not miss the three-figure mark and scored 102 runs made stronger India’s position in that Test. After that Test match, speaking to Rohit Sharma during an interview on bcci.tv, Rahane he revealed on how he handled the criticism during the tough moments.“I try not to get affected by criticism as it is unwanted and I can’t control it. Whenever you score a hundred, you are very happy.”

He further added, “It was satisfying as I had to grind a lot in the beginning. (I) Needed to put the team in a good position before getting to the hundred.”
