Ram Gopal Varma is one director who somehow or the other manages to land up in a controversy due to his tweets. Earlier, Varma's comments against Lord Ganesha on Ganesh Chaturthi had created a controversy. And now, Ram Gopal Varma has irked the Dera Sacha Sauda followers by writing against its head, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, on the micro blogging website.

Jasbir Singh, a Dera follower from Ludhiana's Lohara village has lodged an FIR against the director at Daba village in this district under Section 298 (uttering words to hurt religious sentiments) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 66 (sending offensive messages through communication services and devices) of the Information Technology Act.

A Hindustan Times report stated that Varma has been accused of using derogatory and objectionable language against the dera head in a series of three tweets that have outraged the followers of Ram Rahim as per Jasbir Singh’s complaint.

Here are the tweets that started the controversy:

Ram Rahim of MSG is an Ass but I don't mean Ass in a figurative nor literal way..nd if anyone doesn't understand this he's an Ass

I believe that Ram Rahim of MSG is doing a disservice to his followers ,a mis service to himself and an anti social service to various

So as you can see, Varma has been accused of referring the dera head as "shaitan" (the devil). These tweets came from the director on February 13 and were made in the context of the release of a on Ram Rahim, 'MSG: The Messenger'.

Daba station house officer (SHO) inspector Jatinder Singh said the police would take appropriate action.
