Yoga: Here's how it benefits our mental health

Yoga is not only good for our body, but it also strengthens our muscles and calms our nervous system. Practising yoga for 15-20 minutes in the morning makes us feel energetic and happy throughout. People globally now practice yoga daily, since yoga is the key to psychological and emotional healing as well as resolving issues with self-confidence, relationships, family and more. And the best part is that there's no age barrier for doing yoga, anyone at any age can perform yoga.

If you are planning to perform yoga daily, then you should know how yoga helps with mental health. In today's age, mental health plays a vital role in our overall well being and here's how practising yoga can have an impact on your mental health.

You understand yourself better:

Through yoga, you get to know yourself better and will form a nonjudgmental relationship with yourself. You focus on eating healthy and exercising more since your mind tells you that you are worth it. And in the end, everything comes down to your relationship with yourself. You become courageous and are not afraid of difficult conversations, you know you're still going to be OK at the end of the day.

It helps in your romantic life:

When you're more happy and peaceful with yourself, you will behave the same way with your partner. You'll be compassionate and kind and will be less reactive. You will think before acting out and will always try to maintain your cool.

We recognize our qualities better:

Yoga makes us familiar with our qualities and helps us be more mindful. Different asanas help release the stress from our body and also release the emotional energy, which we may or may not be conscious of. It, therefore, helps us to be open to doing our best with our weaknesses and faults.

Calms our nervous system:

It moves our sympathetic nervous system to the parasympathetic nervous system. We tend to have less anxiety and enter a more relaxed state. Deep breathing helps us calm our nervous system and makes us more relaxed.

Yoga helps you understand your self-worth, and you start loving yourself more. It frees you from all inhibitions and makes you a happier person. You understand the importance of self-love and appreciate yourself more. Mental health is equally important and hence, practice yoga daily for at least 15 minutes.
