Weddings: This couple got married on Mount Everest and the pictures are stunning

How far would you go for the one you love? Well, this couple has gone to the top of the world! Sure the layman dreams of a fabulous wedding and one like no other, but this particular couple has beaten everyone at it.

Originally from California, James Sissom, 35, and Ashley Schmieder, 32, wed at the Mount Everest base camp. The two spent a whole year planning the details of the trip and stuck it out in below freezing temperatures for three weeks until they trekked their way to the 'venue'.

James and Ashley took their wedding vows (WOW'S!) at 17,000 feet above sea level, and though their style of marriage was unconventional, the duo was dressed to impress in traditional wedding ensembles. James wore a black tux and Ashley, a white strapless gown.

According to a leading daily, when asked about the experience, Ashley said, “After much deliberation, we decided a traditional wedding was not the right fit for us. As much as we would have loved to share our special day with our family and friends, we were both drawn to the idea of eloping during an incredible vacation.”

“We both are avid lovers of the outdoors and had experience at an altitude up to 14,000 feet, but we knew the three weeks Everest Base Camp trek would be far more physically and mentally demanding than anything we’ve experienced," she added.

To document the whole trip, the couple chose an ace adventure wedding photographer Charleton Churchill. When speaking to a daily, Churchill said, “I wanted to portray the contrast that exists between the intimidatingly majestic mountains and the small, fragile love between two humans."

He also added that it was a super difficult task to shoot in that temperature and that his hands would freeze even though he was wearing gloves. The bride too faced the same problems and her strapless gown made it even harder.

However, Churchill concluded on a positive note, saying, The temperatures made it hard for the pictures to be taken. “Your hands would quickly freeze if left out of the gloves,” he said. At one point, Churchill’s camera equipment stopped functioning because it was too cold. “There’s no glory without suffering. We worked hard for these images with much less time to photograph a short wedding than we planned.”

Well, all we can say is sometimes love brings out the best in you and takes you to new heights. Sometimes, literally!
