It’s officially proved - Once a cheater, always a cheater!
If your partner cheats once, they're likely to do it again...and now there's scientific proof!

Sorry to break it to you, but if you’ve been cheated on more than twice, chances are your partner will do it again. We all know someone who has been a victim of infidelity. In fact, some of us have had first-hand experiences that have probably scarred us and left us with trust issues that don’t go away very easily. Well, we say this with confidence because according to a recent study, science has backed the infamous ‘once a cheater, always a cheater’ phrase and nothing makes the theory more official than that! Yup, there is now a scientific explanation behind the behavioural pattern of a cheater that will help you understand the psyche behind why he/she repeats his/her actions again and again and again.
According to the new study which was published in Nature Neuroscience, a scientific journal, the more times a person cheats and subsequently lies about it, the degree of guilt lessens with each occurrence. Hence, the person is likely to get comfortable doing so, creating a vicious cycle. To cut it short, the more times a person cheats, the process gets easier to deal with and the deed doesn't seem to feel so ‘wrong’ anymore. The study focused on the part of the brain called amygdala - the supplier of negative responses. It’s the emotion center of the brain, a region that plays an important role in processing, signalling and assessing arousal. It was proven that this part of the brain gives a weaker negative response each time a person is dishonest. Thus, helping him/her gain almost an immunity to the iniquity that gradually leads to the person not feeling guilty about it at all.
So, if you’re in a relationship in which cheating is a not-so-astounding phenomenon anymore, it’s time to wake up and take some action, darling! As they say, old habits die hard...well, unfortunately, some don’t die at all. Parting ways with a partner will always be heart-wrenching but if you respect yourself enough, it’s time to walk out of such an unhealthy relationship. While it might be the toughest thing you do, we promise, it will also be the right-est!
