Stressed Out at Work? Find out how you can ELIMINATE stress from your workplace

You won’t be surprised to know that the average business professional has 30 to 100 projects on their plate. Probably you do too. The modern workplace is a constant source of interruptions and distractions that keep us from being our productive best. Coupled with rigid deadlines, unsurety of jobs and rising expenses, it’s only normal for you to feel stressed out and frustrated at work. When you are stressed out at work, you also tend to bring the negativity back home which inturn affects your behaviour with your loved ones and compromises your well-being. Yet all hope is not lost. Small changes in your lifestyle can help you maintain steady focus throughout the day and keep you energized even at the end of a work day. Find out how you can maintain your cool through the workplace and emerge as an ideal yet relaxed employee!

First and foremost, take a deep breath

If you're feeling overwhelmed or have had a load of tasks dumped on you, take a few minutes to calm down. Practice deep breathing exercise and it’ll immediately make you feel more in control and help you refocus your energy to the tasks ahead.

Minimise interruptions

Emails, phone calls, pop ins, instant messages and sudden deadlines distract us from doing our work efficiently. Ignore interruptions that are not urgent and take a while to respond to those that are. Allot time to yourself which you’ll use to check your work communication instead of interrupting your tasks to check your mail every other minute.

Eat nutritious meals and sleep well

Unhealthy eating will not only make you sick, it’ll also add to your stress. When you do not have a goodnight’s sleep it makes you tired and keeps you from focusing on your work. Healthy lifestyle choices can greatly help in eliminating workplace stress and keep you in a good mood throughout the day.

Sort out your tasks for the day

Make a priority list of your priorities before you start the day. Understand your role in the organization, the company's strategic priorities, and your personal goals and strengths, and then go about doing your work. This will help you stay in charge of your work and keep you from feeling overwhelmed.

Take a time-out

When you feel frustrated or angry, take a time-out instead of reacting instantly. Go for a short walk, drink a cup of tea or take a few deep breaths. Communicate your feelings later - this will help you and the other person clearly understand the grievances.
