Hosting a Diwali party: THESE are the etiquette you must follow
Being the host of a Diwali party isn’t enough, make sure your etiquette is impeccable.
A lot of us look forward to hosting Diwali parties every year, and with time it has become a cherished tradition. While hosting a Diwali party can be a lot of fun, you have to ensure that your guests get to share the fun with you. Organising a Diwali party is not limited to arranging for food, drinks and games but making sure that every single one of your guests has the best time. Remember that your guests have taken time out of their busy schedules to attend your party, so respect their time and decision to celebrate the festival with you. Here are a few simple tips on how to be the perfect host.
Send out early invites

Being a good host starts from the very first step - sending out invites. Send out your invites at least ten days prior to the party so your guests have enough time to RSVP. Clearly mention the address of the venue, date and time to avoid any confusion.
Greet every guest individually

If you are unable to greet the guests at the door, it will make them feel unwelcome and not looked after for. Make sure that at least one person of your family is at the door to greet the guests. A simple hello is all it takes to set the right mood!
Introduce the guests to each other

It is possible that a new group of people is joining your party this year. To make them feel welcome, host a round of introduction at the start of the party. Exchanging names and some little information about themselves can help the guests mingle with each other. This is a fun group exercise and a great way to bond!
Be mindful of your guest’s eating habits

Food is a big party of any party. When you send out invites, ask your guests to specify their food restrictions if any. Faithfully abide by these instructions so that all your guests can enjoy a hearty meal without worrying about eating something they shouldn’t be. Also, do not force your guests to drink when they clearly seem unwilling to. Be respectful of personal choice.
Say goodbye with a gift

A party is only as successful as how enjoyable the guests find it. To express your gratitude and make sure that your friends attend your Diwali party next year, say goodbye with a gift. The gift doesn’t have to be anything elaborate but just a small token of thanks. A box of chocolates, diyas or scented candles make for great gifts!
